Tata Power and Tivolt Collaborate to Transform EV Charging for Commercial Vehicles

Partnership leverages Tata Power's EV charging expertise and Tivolt's commercial EV network

A strategic partnership to bolster India's EV infrastructure for sustainable mobility

  • Tata Power Renewable Energy (TPREL) partners with Tivolt Electric Vehicles to expand EV charging for small commercial vehicles.

  • MoU includes plans to integrate solar energy, reducing costs and environmental impact.

  • Collaboration supports India's shift to clean energy and e-mobility for commercial transportation.

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a leader in renewable energy and electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions, has joined forces with Tivolt Electric Vehicles, an EV-focused venture of the Murugappa Group. The partnership formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), seeks to build a robust EV charging infrastructure that caters to small electric commercial vehicles across India.

This collaboration addresses the growing demand for accessible, reliable, and sustainable charging solutions in the commercial EV segment, a critical component of last-mile delivery and logistics. By combining TPREL’s expertise in EV charging with Tivolt’s network of light commercial electric vehicles, the initiative promises to accelerate the adoption of EVs and contribute to India's clean energy goals.

India's EV Ecosystem

  • The Indian EV market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 49% between 2023 and 2030.

  • The commercial EV segment, including light and small vehicles, is pivotal in logistics and last-mile delivery.

  • Increasing solar integration in EV infrastructure supports cost-effective, sustainable charging solutions, aligning with India’s renewable energy ambitions.

TPREL will install EV chargers at Tivolt dealerships, customer locations, and high-traffic public areas, making charging more accessible for commercial EV users. The chargers will also be integrated with solar energy systems, lowering operational costs and reducing carbon emissions. “Through our partnership with Tivolt, we are enhancing our EV charging network to empower the commercial vehicle segment, which is vital to India’s economy,” said Mr Deepesh Nanda, CEO & Managing Director of TPREL.

Tivolt’s small electric commercial vehicles, marketed under the Montra Electric brand, are designed to redefine urban mobility with a focus on innovation and sustainability. CEO of Tivolt, Mr Saju Nair, stated, “This partnership is a pivotal step in enabling EV adoption for commercial vehicles. Together, we aim to create a seamless charging experience that aligns with our vision of clean and efficient mobility.”

TPREL has already established over 6,500 public and fleet charging points across 530 cities, positioning itself as a leader in the EV infrastructure market. With this new partnership, Tata Power and Tivolt reaffirm their commitment to driving India's transition towards a sustainable future, one charging station at a time.
