Sumant Sinha, CEO and Founder of ReNew, has been recognized in the 2024 TIME100 Climate List, a tribute to his leadership in India’s renewable energy sector. Since founding ReNew in 2011, Sinha has overseen its rise to one of India’s largest clean energy producers, helping it achieve a milestone of 10 GW of operational solar and wind assets, contributing to about 10% of India’s total renewable energy generation.


This recognition highlights Sinha’s commitment to scaling renewable energy while advocating for strong climate policies. He calls for creating a global carbon market with a unified carbon price to drive funds to the highest-impact emissions reduction areas. His leadership extends to international platforms like the World Economic Forum, where he co-chairs the Alliance of CEO Climate Leaders.


India’s renewable energy sector has expanded rapidly in recent years, with a target of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030. Companies like ReNew play a pivotal role, exemplifying the rapid scaling of wind and solar technologies in a growing and competitive market.
