Ambuja Cements' new solar project significantly reduces power costs
Ambuja Cements commissions a 200 MW solar power project in Khavda, Gujarat.

This is the first phase of a larger 1 GW renewable energy project (solar and wind) combined with 376 MW from Waste Heat Recovery Systems (WHRS).
Ambuja Cements, part of the Adani Group, has commissioned a 200 MW solar power plant in Khavda, Gujarat. This project will supply green energy to 20 cement plants across India. The remaining 806 MW capacity of the overall project is expected to be commissioned in phases between March and June 2025.
This initiative is a significant step towards Ambuja Cement's goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. The substantial reduction in power costs is expected to significantly boost the company's EBITDA, enhancing its financial performance and creating value for stakeholders. Technical Focus
Ambuja Cements' 1 GW renewable energy project includes solar and wind power, supplemented by 376 MW from Waste Heat Recovery Systems (WHRS). The company invests Rs. 10,000 crore in this initiative, aiming to source 60% of its power requirement from green energy by FY28. The project's first phase is the project's 200 MW solar plant in Khavda.
Of the remaining capacity, 156 MW of wind power from Khavda and 300 MW of solar power from Rajasthan are scheduled for commissioning by March 2025, with the final 350 MW of solar power expected by June 2025. This multi-faceted approach to renewable energy aligns with India's growing focus on sustainable development and increasing renewable energy capacity targets.
